Google Takeout support

Search your Google Takeout
email archive.

You exported your Gmail with Google Takeout. Now you have a ZIP file sitting on your drive. Upload it to Evermail and search years of email history in your browser.

You exported your Gmail. Now what?

Google Takeout gives you a ZIP file containing MBOX files. Most people download it and never open it because there's no obvious way to read the contents.

You can't search inside a Takeout export without importing it into an email client. Thunderbird can open MBOX files, but setting it up just to find one old email is a hassle.

Maybe you deleted the Gmail account, moved to Outlook, or left a company that used Google Workspace. The Takeout export is your only copy. It should be searchable.

How it works

How Evermail handles Google Takeout exports

1

Upload the Takeout ZIP file

Drag and drop the ZIP file you downloaded from Google Takeout. Evermail detects the Takeout structure and extracts the MBOX files inside automatically.

2

Evermail parses and indexes

All MBOX files from the Takeout export are concatenated and streamed through MimeKit. Every email is parsed, metadata extracted, and content indexed for full-text search.

3

Search your Gmail history

Find any email by keyword, sender, date, or attachment. Browse threaded conversations. Download attachments. All in your browser, no Gmail account needed.
